Microsoft Product Demo

Continuing our work for Microsoft, we partnered with the Kissd agency, who provided the creative look and feel, and Digital Kitchen, who provided the video shooting and production. Pinacol went to work over the holidays creating a Flash site experience to showcase three of Microsoft's products.

The centerpiece of the site is the videos, and in order to highlight these assets, we built a robust media player from scratch. Allowing for thumbnail views, chapters, video chapter overlays, send to a friend, chapter links, and content sensitive hotspots, the media player is a sight to behold.

Intel - Content Syndication

Continuing our work with Intel and Catapult Marketing, Pinacol developed a content syndication site for Intel that will allow retailers to engage customers with a processor configurator.

The site was built in Flash and XML, as it needed to run stand-alone, locally and online. All considerations were taken during development to allow the site to be translated into multiple languages. All text and images were externalized, and buttons and text were built to dynamically grow based on the text. We tested three versions of the site, English, which the site was originally built for, German, which contains characters for almost all European languages, and Simplified Chinese, which works for non-standard language characters. Click below to preview the various language versions.

Hitachi Showroom

Hitachi, a long time tv manufacturer, wanted to announce their foray into flat panel televisions with a bang, and thus the idea for the virtual showroom was born. With fourteen new LCD and Plasma televisions releasing this fall, the virtual showroom showcases the elegant design and styling behind the technologically advanced hardware produced by Hitachi.

Working with Lambesis, Pinacol started work at the beginning of July with one client mandate, the site must launch at the end of August in time for the fall shopping season. Working from approved creative layouts and a content workbook, Pinacol went to work on a custom CMS to store the rich product database that would drive the front-end of the site, allowing for assets to be optimized and shared across the site, while the Flash team went to work on layout design. Working extensively with Flash video, our team created a rich video management structure in order to organize over 100 hundred clips of rendered animations, and videos. With our robust CMS, the product database enabled the quick deployment of components like Search, Favorites, Send to A Friend, and Model Comparison, providing users two orientations for navigation, experiential and utilitarian, and allowing us to meet the deadline.

American Express - U.S. Open - Members Clubhouse

Based in San Clemente, with golf courses surrounding our building, Pinacol is no stranger to the links. When Transistor Studios approached Pinacol to be the development partner on a U.S. Open / Tiger Woods website for American Express, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to mix work and pleasure. The deadline was tight as usual, with three weeks to execute from creative comps to live site, but working with Transistor and Digitas, Pinacol was able to make their creative vision a reality.

Built around footage of Tiger Woods playing a practice round at Oakmont with American Express cardholders rotating in as his caddy, the creative vision for the site had two tiers, a site structure with pages and general information on the U.S Open and American Express offers, and a predictive strategy game, where users could predict how Tiger would perform in the 2007 U.S. Open. With the chance to win tickets to next year's U.S Open tournament, as well as all day passes to experience ESPN's touring day classes, the site allowed golf enthusiasts to prove their knowledge of golf and Tiger Woods at one of the most challenging courses in the U.S. Updated throughout the tournament with Tiger's progress, as well as a leader board to track winning scores, the game allowed users to view Tiger's practice performance, and hole layouts with hole-by-hole information / strategies for playing the challenging course at Oakmont. Once the first phase was live, Pinacol started work on refining the creative for the site to prepare it for a post- U.S Open life by expanding the content sections to provide greater depth to the site as the game was removed from the Members Clubhouse.

United Way

Working with Transistor Studios and Energy BBDO, Pinacol executed on three Flash concepts to promote needy individuals to those ready to donate to the United Way. There was no media buy; the only driver to these was an internal email sent throughout United Way's corporate headquarters, which sits behind a firewall that does not allow downloads of the latest Flash plug-ins. Kikkoman - YourTeriyaki.com

With summer barbeque season on the way, Kikkoman wanted a way to reach new customers using an online campaign that could be promoted across various food-related Internet channels.

The site – built all in Flash – provided a set of recipes, which could be accessed using an Actionscript-driven “lazy susan” style interface – driven by a series of custom scripts developed to provide detailed distance visualization – providing the illusion that plates were really spinning back and forth, without the artwork to really back it up.

Lexus - Build Your Lexus

Toyota’s Lexus division wanted to automate the process by which Internet leads could be sent to their retailer partners. At the same time, there was the need to give the web site users the ability to customize the vehicle of their choice. Finally, the application needed to provide information only on existing customized Lexus vehicles on the lots of retailers in the geographic area of the web site user.

Working in conjunction with Team One Advertising, Pinacol developed the database and online interactive application to provide users with real time access to every vehicle in Lexus’ inventory—throughout the United States.

This application begins with the user customization of features, including all option packages, trim levels, colors (both interior and exterior), all the way to such intricate detail as to whether the user wants wheel locks or not. Throughout the process, continually maintaining the current price for the configured model, and preparing a printable and email-ready configuration to the nearest dealer. In addition, Pinacol integrated the features and database utility of third party vendors, such as mapping and geocoding services. Pinacol completed all of this with a time to market of 90 days, development and testing included.

Since the launch of the “Build Your Lexus” Site there have been millions of customized Lexus vehicles configured on the Lexus.com web site. To Start over 40 retailers have joined the pilot “Internet Lead” program, allowing them the instant access to the customized vehicle leads directly from the web site (to an email pager on the lot at the dealership nearest the user). Adding even further success stories to this project the following year, Pinacol was engaged to update “Build Your Lexus”, to include the addition of the American Express Platinum Series vehicles.
